My mom bought a mattress 3 yrs ago at a local furniture store. It has a ten yr warranty. Lately, she has noticed "stains" coming through her mattress pad and on the mattress. She has no idea where the stains came from. They finally called her today after the service call 3 weeks ago and told her that they are going to replace the mattress pad and will "shampoo" the mattress.
Can this be done? I have never heard of "shampooing a mattress." I need answers fast!!!!!

Never heard of it, but I suppose much like cleaning upholstery, it can be done....Strange, though. (the mystery stains).
That IS weird - mystery stains - could it be rust from the springs? I'm with ETW though probably much like cleaning uphostery.
I have no clue about mattress cleaning...let us know what works! In college, I actually rented a mattress one summer, from a furniture place....ewww!!!! Still can't believe I did that.
When my husband owned his own cleaning business we used to shampoo mattress in motels and hotels. If there are stains coming through you Mom's bed, I would demand a new one. Sounds like a reconditioned mattress and you got ripped off.
I'm with ETW - but, if it can be done - do it & def. ask for some sort of reimbursement (like not paying for the cleaning!)
